Quick summary: This is FANTASTIC. The only line of skin care that has worked for my skin. I can’t believe I’m really acne-free. Here’s the detailed version:I’m a 33-year-old mother of 3 with pale, sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin. I have had acne since I was a teenager. It’s been bad. The one thing that worked for me was Aldactone. I used the as prescribed by a dermatologist along with birth control pills, as recommended. This was fantastic for my skin, but I don’t like taking hormones or medicine in general. Obviously, they weren’t an option when my husband and I decided to start a family. My acne came back with a vengeance. It was definitely hormonal with heavy whitehead breakouts monthly and zits all the time. The scarring was bad. Since my teenage years, I have tried probably close to a hundred different products without success, including Proactiv, Aveeno, Olay, Salacylic Acid, Retin-A, Clearasil, and Oxy clean, & Neutragena.I came across these products (from Dan’s Clear Skin Regimen CSR at Acne.org) a long time ago, but didn’t try them. About 6 months ago, I decided to give it a go. I bought the Cleanser, Treatment & Moisturizer, & Jojoba oil to start, and decided to wait on the AHA+ as recommended. Also, I knew the AHA+ contained glycolic acid, which I thought my skin didn’t like. (Based on other products with that ingredient.) So, I started the regimen following the application techniques that Dan recommends in his videos.FIRST MONTH – starting with small amount of treatment & slowly ramping it up -Morning: Cleanser, Olay Complete Moisturizer SPF 15 (w/ 2 drops of Jojoba oil), Avon Mineral Make-upEvening: Cleanser (wait 15 mins- this is key!), Treatment (again wait 15 mins), Moisturizer mixed with a few drops of Jojoba oil.Findings: I found that I didn’t use as much moisturizer as Dan recommends when I mixed it with the oil. I think the oil really helped the flakes in the beginning. My face definitely dried out with fewer zits, but my pores felt clogged still and I still had a few zits pretty much all the time this first month.SECOND MONTH – added AHA+Morning: Cleanser, Olay Complete Moisturizer SPF 15 (w/ 2 drops of Jojoba oil), Avon Mineral Make-upEvening: Cleanser (wait 15 mins), Treatment (again wait 15 mins), AHA+, Moisturizer mixed with a few drops of Jojoba oil.Findings: I WAS IN PAIN!!! The AHA+ stung so bad, I thought I would cry. I toughed it out for about 2 weeks until I decided to try it in the morning instead. That helped SO much! (see below for routine). I think the stinging came from mixing the BP and AHA.REVISED MONTHS 2-4 – Treatment at night & AHA+ in the morningMorning: Cleanser, AHA+, Olay Complete Moisturizer, Avon Mineral Make-upEvening: Cleanser, Treatment, Moisturizer mixed with a few drops of Jojoba oil.Findings: I gradually saw my skin getting so clear, and no stinging!! I do have very sensitive skin. I used this regimen for a couple months, and it got to where I would have only 1 or 2 zits per month! Those zits would leave bad scars, which would make my skin look like I had more zits than I did. During the next month, I got lazy and stopped always waiting 15 minutes in between cleansing/treatment/moisturizing, & once I realized that the timing was key, went back to this final (and my current) regimen below.TODAY’S REGIMEN (about 8 months after I started the CSR)Morning: Cleanser, AHA+ (I skip this if I know I’m going to spend a lot of time outside), Olay Complete Moisturizer (I skip this if I know I’ll be inside all day), Avon Mineral Make-up (optional, yay!)Evening: Cleanser (wait 15 mins- this is key!), Treatment (again wait 15 mins), Moisturizer without Jojoba oil anymore–I don’t need it!Findings: I just can’t believe that I finally have clear skin! I occasionally get an itty bitty zit, but it has been a couple months since that happened & it cleared up really fast with no scarring! My scars are fading, too. I’m just so excited about the CSR–and I hardly ever write reviews!Here are my final thoughts on each of the products:THE LINE AS A WHOLE: I love that it has the best ingredients, that it avoids fragrances and other irritating ingredients. I also like that Dan cares about limiting packaging and keeping the costs low!CLEANSER: Love, Love, Love! It reminds me of all the good things about Cetaphil, but it actually FEELS like you’re getting your face clean. I love how it bubbles up–unlike Cetaphil. Doesn’t leave my skin overly dryTREATMENT: Glides on easy. I don’t actually use as much as Dan recommends, but that works for me. I use about the size of the top part of my index finger only once a day. I definitely wait until my face is totally dry after cleansing before applying. This DOES bleach fabrics, so I always take a white pillowcase with me when traveling to avoid bleaching someone else’s pillowcase!MOISTURIZER: This has taken me longer to love. I think I was using too much for my face early on, but Dan DOES recommend using a lot! It doesn’t soak in quickly, which is the main reason I didn’t like it at first. I’ve learned to really like it and my face definitely looks more vibrant in the morning when I use it the night before. I only use this at night since I find it to be a little too oily looking under make-up. I will keep buying it, but it lasts forever!AHA+: Like I said above, this stung SO bad at first when I was applying right after the BP. Once I applied it on its own after cleansing, it hardly stings at all. Now I LOVE this! This is the key to my face now looking totally polished. It cleared up the flakes from the BP right away, and now I have such smooth, even, bright, and glowing skin. Yes, this sounds so cheesy, and when people would say this before, I never believed it could happen to ME! I really think my emerging wrinkles are lessoned, too. Perhaps it’s even fading my scars?!?!JOJOBA OIL: This worked well in the first month when I wasn’t using the AHA+ to minimize the flakes. I really didn’t like the packaging because it leaked oil all over my counter, and I’m glad I don’t have to use it anymore!Seriously, I want to tell everyone how well this worked for me, but I’m shy and don’t want to make people with acne feel awkward by telling them to their faces. So, here is my review after months of totally clear skin: wow.

I haven’t had regular acne for a while (since I was a teenager), but recently I had a really bad cystic acne flareup. I’m a pretty low maintenance person so usually I just use a gentle face wash followed up with a moisturizer and sunscreen. That wasn’t cutting it with this most recent breakout that was the type of acne that was both painful and prone to scarring. It wasn’t going away on its own like it usually does and I had 3-4 really painful ones so I decided to pick up this kit.I do have sensitive skin but I’m not allergic to benzoyl peroxide, which is the active ingredient in this kit. I have used Proactiv in the past but it stopped working for me and I didn’t feel like getting caught up in the auto-billing practices from ordering on their main site. I also found Proactiv to be a lot more expensive at other retailers. After Proactiv stopped working for me, I went with a “less is more” approach to my acne and I mostly outgrew it before this most recent breakout. I wanted to see what else was out there and saw that this kit had a lot of positive feedback and wanted to give it a try.General overview of each product in the kit:Cleanser: If you like the beads in the Proactiv cleanser, you probably won’t be a fan of this facewash. There is a slight “grit” to it, but nothing like the beads in the Proactiv cleanser. It’s pretty drying so I wouldn’t use it every day. It left my face with that “squeaky-clean” feeling that feels like I over-washed my face. Definitely use a good moisturizer with this facewash.Toner: Worst product of the bunch. All you can smell is the alcohol. I would either switch it out for a different toner if you really want to follow the routine, or only use it on active pimples. Alcohol is actually a great disinfectant but I wouldn’t use it on my whole face. The Proactiv toner is definitely superior to this since that uses the pricier glycolic acid base.Lotion: Comparable to the Proactiv lotion. As other reviewers have mentioned, I would use this sparingly as well. It can be drying if you apply this to your whole face, instead of just active pimples. I found this less drying than the facewash though. As long as I use it sparingly, I can use the lotion daily with minimal dryness, but if I use the cleanser everyday the dryness is out of control.Routine:I only use the cleanser 1-2 times a week and use another sensitive skin facewash daily. If I use the cleanser anymore then that, the dryness gets out of control. Not just flakiness, but the type of dryness where it burns if you apply lotion on it. I do have sensitive skin, but I never had that type of dryness when I was on Proactiv (just general flakiness). I believe Proactiv only has 2.7% benzoyl peroxide in it vs the 3.7% in this kit. 3.7% is a bit high for me to apply to my entire face but works well applied sparingly to active pimples. I usually skip the toner or only apply it to active pimples. I use the lotion daily on any acne-prone places and active pimples, but not my whole face. I always followup with a moisturizer and a sunscreen.Purging period: As others have mentioned, I did experience a pretty bad purging period when I first started using the kit. It brought out cystic acne in places that I usually don’t get it like on the far sides of my cheeks near my ears. It definitely gets worse at first before it gets better. The acne did eventually all go away but did leave brown marks behind that are going to take a while to fade. There also was the severe dryness I mentioned above, until I learned to get the “dosage” right for my skin.General opinion/recommendation:I would purchase the kit again if I was on a budget because it will do in a pinch, but I will probably search for something better. I feel like it does make my acne go away but it’s pretty harsh on my skin and I don’t feel like I can use it as part of my daily routine for a long period of time. I would be interested to try the “sensitive skin” version of the kit in the future to see how it compare. Right now I’m just going to finish up the remainder of this kit before introducing other items into my skincare routine.

Great! Great product. I have used this for SEVERAL years. For me, it keeps acne to a minimum by preventing flair-ups. I’ve tried another product containing different active ingredient but it burned my skin. I would recommend this product to anyone w/ acne issues.

As you can see from the photo I have moderate cystic acne with bad scarring.After the many interventions, over the counter (Neutrogena, murad etc.), birth control, a 10% BP solution, all sorts of serums, dermatologist prescribed meds, nothing has resolved my acne. I tried the Korean Skincare routine which made my non acne affected skin greatly improve in texture and overall health, but did not touch the stubborn acne.The photos are from the morning after my first application, days 34, 62, and 100 after the morning routine when my skin is as bad as it gets (sorry for the bad lighting).Within one night of using it, my cystic acne started turning into whiteheads which is very uncommon for my skin. This appears to be a repeating event where any red bumps that start to surface inevitably are turning into whiteheads that eventually burst with the lightest of touch. I used neosporin – I find it helps with the scarring and inflammation. I can have eczema patches around my eyes or ears if they get too dry so I have to keep the BP at least 1 inch away from those areas (sometimes the BP migrates with the lotion so be careful there).I started this regimen in late summer so the first week my skin burned anytime I went outdoors hence the sunblock (I really like the Neutrogena daily moisturizer with spf 30). If you can avoid wearing makeup or at the very least only use eye makeup for the first week, I highly recommend doing so. If not, use moisturizing foundations etc. stay away from matte finishes because it will severely dry out your skin and flake. I was able to go back to my matte makeup ~2 weeks in, but not every day or I get flaky.Application: Be diligent on washing your hands (~30sec) any time before touching your face – with that here is my routine. As I mentioned I had great results with the K Skincare routine so I weaved my serums and toners into this routine. I only recommend keeping what you already know works great for you. If wearing makeup, I use a cotton ball with remover (the wipes ended up being too rough). Make sure you get it all off because this face wash is far too gentle to remove make up. I let my skin dry ~10 minutes, wash my hands, and apply my klairs toner. Let that dry ~5 min, wash hands, and then apply my essence. I let this dry for 15 minutes, wash hands, and then apply BP (avoiding eyes and ears). I let this dry for 15 minutes, wash my hands, apply my vita C serum and lotion to areas without BP. Then I start to apply to areas with BP, being careful to not let it migrate. I have also found if the BP gets on my neck, it gives me a light red rash. It took me two weeks before I felt comfortable with using the BP 2x/day and I stopped increasing the amount after about a nickel sized drop. I didn’t want to have a terrible reaction to the BP so I took my time and let my skin adjust. I still have a red tint to my skin, light sunburn type, but really is only noticeable under bright fluorescents. The BP is very harsh and drying on your skin, but if you’re like me and very desperate for a resolution, this system works.I give every skin care routine 3-4 months to control my acne. At first I did not like the lotion that came with this product as it really did not do a great job and definitely could not stand up to winter use. Winter for me consists of 15-35 F so I purchased the jojoba oil from the same manufacturer as the price was competitive compared to other, similar products on amazon. I used it as the company instructed, mixing 5 drops into my lotion step, but had okay results. I got a separate clear plastic bottle to mix them (lotion and oil) and had vast improvements. I think my skin needed more so I mixed them to a consistency where if I flip the bottle upside down, the mixture will fairly rapidly fall. This keep my skin hydrated in the single digits days we’ve been getting with zero flakes. If you have dry skin, buy the oil! It really will save you on going through the itchy, red, flaky period and BONUS it’s great to put on chapped lips before bed during winter monthsFrom my photos, this system obviously works! I did go through the “it gets worse, before getting better” period but at around two months in I had a lot of improvement that only continued. At 100 days in I maybe get one blemish per month and it will go away within a week. When wearing just a foundation (no concealer) my skin looks amazing and you can’t even really see my discoloration or scarring. I would 10/10 recommend this to anyone who suffers as I did (finally past tense) from acne.Goodluck and Cheers!

So I’ve only used this system for 3 three days as the packaging instructs and I already can see a difference. My skin is softer, whiteheads are easier to extract, and redness has decreased by a whole lot. I have hormonal, adult acne with oily/combination skin and usually have about three breakouts at one time. I am super excited to see if this system will be able to prevent breakouts from occurring.Update: Ok so I’ve used this for a few weeks now and took off a star. First, this became super drying. I’m talking about peach fuzz all over the face drying. Peeling tiny particles of skin off my face drying. My makeup applied even worse with this vs applying makeup to a face with breakouts on it. So I’ve now started to use this every other day.Second, when you get breakouts, the healing process is super slow. I forgot to wash my face one night and woke up to three new breakouts. I started to use the lotion as a spot treatment but my stubborn acne did not budge. The lotion helped to keep the size of the zit down but it took an entire 8 days for the zit to go away. Until then, there was a medium size, very noticeable bump on my face. So this is not for people who want rapid results. There are drugstore spot treatment options that perform much better.So I love the system for preventing breakouts but hate the dry skin I get after using this.

I use this system once per day on my face and it works great. It really knocks down pimples, and it is the only thing I have ever used that makes my blackheads either go away or become far less noticeable. For some, it may dry your skin out too much and maybe burn some. For me, my skin looks great after using this. Also, do not let this stuff come in contact with clothing or your colored towels… it will leave bleach marks. It took me a while to figure out why my shirts and towels were getting bleached spots, and it finally dawned on me that it was from my face wash system. Put your shirt on before you apply the toner and moisturizer to keep from bleaching your clothes. Do not use if you get a lot of sun or plan to.

Literally flattens all my Acne Bumps. So I had pretty bad acne before I started seeing a dermatologist and I would pop my smaller pimples and use this spot treatment right after they would flatten literally within 8-10 hours. Husband swears by it. My husband swears by this product and has used it for years . As a woman who does the laundry it can stain or bleach the necks of shirts sometimes I noticed. Other than that I say it’s a great product

Amazing! My husband has really bad acne on his face so we gave these a try. They work wonders! It clears up his acne in a few days. I recommend this to anyone with acne.

Great little kit. Haven’t been able to travel with it yet by the bigger sizes work awesomely! The only con I have with this is I was expecting a travel case along with this it will be sort of difficult to travel without one. Otherwise the kit is great!!!

I’ve been using these products for awhile now and it’s really made the difference. I wouldn’t recommend this product to someone with dry or super sensitive skin, but it definitely wouldn’t cause any problems when used occasionally. I’ve found it to be drying when used regularly, especially the lotion, but it does wonders alone. Using a moisturizing face lotion along with these products has worked perfectly for me and has not dried out my skin. This routine has cleared up 99.9% of my acne, but I have noticed that you do have to keep up with it to maintain clear skin. These products are also non-scented, which is great for someone with sensitive skin and just your face in general. I use this along with spot treatment and my skin has never looked better! Not to mention these products are also fast-acting, giving results overnight unlike many other acne products that require months worth of use. Worth more than what you’re paying for!Reading through other reviews, this product is definitely controversial and not for everyone. The active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide, which can explain why it has given different people different reactions. If someone has never used benzoyl peroxide on their skin it can be very intense and it’s definitely capable of making your skin worse. If you use this product with no previous acne medication use or apply these products too often it can easily cause burns, irritation, or rashes. These side effects are common, it’s just your skin telling you the medication is too strong and harsh. When buying acne medication, the best thing you can do is research and patch tests. This way you will be able to find what works best for you. Salicylic acid is another active ingredient used in acne products that could also give someone the same bad reaction. Most of the time these reactions happen either because you’re skin is not familiar with these products or just not susceptible to the specific medication. I’ve had a past with both benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, coming to a conclusion benzoyl peroxide is best for my skin. That is not the case for others though, everyone’s skin is different and the same product will work differently on different people with different skin types. The average percentage to start on benzoyl peroxide is 2.5%. The acne lotion contains 3.7% which can be damaging and drying if you do not slowly ease into it or if your skin is not familiar with benzoyl peroxide and this percentage. Some that have come across issues used these products daily, even twice a day. This will easily harm your skin just because of how intensifying it is. Even though this is not a prescription drug and is available to anyone, it is definitely not made for everyone and can be extreme and harsh. A moisturizing face lotion is your best friend while using these products because they are drying and will absorb your natural oils, even for someone that does not have dry skin. I would definitely recommend to ease into these products and determine what is best for your individual skin for the best results. I do not believe this is a good product for first-time acne medication users just because of the strength. This product is definitely best for someone that knows their skin and has knowledge about acne medication and how it’s used. If this product is used correctly it will show correct results.

This is a great set to have for anyone who has tro. This is a great set to have for anyone who has trouble with whiteheads/blackheads. I do everything in my power to control them on a day-to-day, long-term basis but sometimes I still wake up with a whitehead or two somewhere. This set is great for getting rid of them in a quick, clean way. Instead of pinching and squeezing my skin (Which I know is so bad for it, but we all know the terrible alternative is walking around with a huge white puss ball on your face all day) these tools make it easy to quickly be rid of them, and then I can treat the spot with various compounds to help to clean it out and heal it. Personally, I love the tweezer tool because I am a guy and I sometimes get ingrown hairs (ON MY FACE!!) that pop up that usually would turn into months-long red spots, but with the tweezers I’m able to extract them myself. I’m VERY satisfied.

A change in my routine led to some big, deep cysts on my forehead and chin as part the purging process. These types of breakouts are usually painful and last weeks. Came across these patches and they really work! I have never seen anything have even the slightest effect on early stage cysts before, but these stickers actually make them flatter and easier to treat with other products. I have generally needed 2-3 patches per cyst, which is unfortunately very expensive, but it’s the only thing that works and is better than wanting money on ineffective products. I tried another brand of microdart patches to save money and they were just not as effective.

Quality tools. I like the tools. The tweezers are excellent for picking off dry skin flakes without damging the skin too much. The extraction tools are really good. I love that they come with a small circle for deep pimples. I do have issues with opening the case but that might be me. All the tools fit in the case well. VARIES so BEWARE! I’m 35 and started dealing with acne possibly due to hormone imbalance. I gave this a try and let me just say it is very HARSH on sensitive skin which I have. After two uses I had to stop using it. It burned and dried my face badly. No amount of moisturizer helped with the dryness. I will continue to use but most likely once or twice a week. It works great on back acne. I had no problems with irritation on my back and notice clearing after a few uses on my back.

It cleared my skin quite fast. The smell and fragrance from the cleanser is a bit strong and irritating just a little. And I stopped using it when I started to peel (don’t stop using it) and don’t use it in the morning until your skin is really used to it I made that mistake and burnt my skin in the morning before my day, I’d use something moisturising in the morning.

Works fast, but doesn’t last 30 days. This works great. My acne pretty much vanished after 2 weeks and the routine doesn’t dry out my skin. I wish it was a bit cheaper for the quantity you get though. This won’t last 30 days. Maybe 20 days is more accurate. 5 stars because it works well.

didn’t make any difference for me. idk if these products are changing the ingredients but these and the noxema pads arent working anymore breakouts arent clearing up there is no difference with my skin as it once was before

Awesome! Honestly I’m impressed! I just got a kit yesterday, and I only used it once before my skin looked really clear. I’m a teen with oily skin and get breakouts a lot, there’s like a new pimple or spot of acne every day. I started using this last night and when I woke up I was impressed. My skin has never looked this clear. My pores, acne, bumpiness, GONE! My skin feels soft after using it. I’ve tried a bunch of products and nothing like this has worked this much. I definitely recommend buying this, and if you’re a parent and have a teen this is a great gift!!

If it’s not broke don’t “fix” it. I used this before the “NEW FORMULA” and it worked miracles. New formula and packaging from my recent purchase and my face is completely broken out like I’ve never seen before. NEVER BUYING AGAIN.
