Completely dead within 90 days
Unit lasted less than 10 hours of use, seller sent me to Amazon who said that the unit was older than 30 days so no warranty. No piece of electronic equipment should be completely worthless after 10 hours of use without any concern from the seller.

Well I can add my Google account but regardless of what I do it keeps prompting me to rebuy all my apps. Why tf would I want to constantly sideload apps I’ve already paid for? I’ve got three different android TV boxes and I can’t install whatever tf I want off my Google account but not on this one.

garbage.
Hulu just crashes in launch. Prime vidio crashes as soon as you try to play a vidio. Hbo max loads vidio but it is zoomed in like 400% the only thing that works on this thing is free pluto. No customer service, zero contact info. Garbage, save your time and pass on this no name box.

A Canadian systems security consultant discovered that an Android TV box purchased from Amazon was pre-loaded with persistent, sophisticated malware baked into its firmware.The malware was discovered by Daniel Milisic, who created a script and instructions to help users nullify the payload and stop its communication with the C2 (command and control) server.The device in question is the T95 Android TV box with an AllWinner T616 processor, widely available through Amazon, AliExpress, and other big e-commerce platforms.It is unclear if this single device was affected or if all devices from this model or brand include the malicious component.Malware on the TV streaming boxThe T95 streaming device uses an Android 10-based ROM signed with test keys and the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) open over Ethernet and WiFi.This is a suspicious configuration as ADB can be used to connect to devices for unrestricted filesystem access, command execution, software installation, data modification, and remote control.However, as most consumer streaming devices sit behind a firewall, threat actors will likely be unable to connect to ADB remotely.Milisic says he initially bought this device to run the Pi-hole DNS sinkhole, which protects devices from unwanted content, advertisements, and malicious sites without installing software.While analyzing the DNS request in Pi-hole, Milisic discovered that the device was attempting to connect to several IP addresses associated with active malware.Milisic believes the malware installed on the device is a strain that resembles ‘CopyCat,’ a sophisticated Android malware first discovered by Check Point in 2017. This malware was previously seen in an adware campaign where it infected 14 million Android devices to make its operators over $1,500,000 in profits.The analyst tested the stage-1 malware sample on VirusTotal, where it returns only 13 detections out of 61 AV engine scans, classified with the generic term of an Android trojan downloader.”I found layers on top of layers of malware using ‘tcpflow’ and ‘nethogs’ to monitor traffic and traced it back to the offending process/APK, which I then removed from the ROM,” explains the analyst in a GitHub post.”The final bit of malware I could not track down injects the ‘system_server’ process and looks to be deeply baked into the ROM.”The analyst observed that the malware attempted to fetch additional payloads from ‘ycxrl.com,’ ‘cbphe.com,’ and ‘cbpheback.com.’Because finding a clean ROM to replace the malicious is just as challenging, Milisic resorted to changing the DNS of the C2 to route the requests via the Pi-hole web server, making it possible to block them.Users of T95 are recommended to follow these two simple steps to clean their device and nullify the malware that runs on it:Upon reboot, connect to ADB via USB or WiFi-Ethernet and run this script.To confirm that the malware has been rendered harmless, run “adb logcat | grep Corejava” and verify that the chmod command failed to execute.However, as these devices are fairly inexpensive on Amazon, it may be wiser to discontinue using them if you can afford to do so.An ambiguous electronics marketUnfortunately, these inexpensive Android-based TV box devices follow an obscure route from manufacturing in China to global market availability.In many cases, these devices are sold under multiple brands and device names, with no clear indication of where they originate.Furthermore, as the devices commonly flow through many hands, vendors and re-sellers have several opportunities to load custom ROMs on the devices, potentially malicious ones.Even if most e-commerce sites have policies to prevent selling devices pre-loaded with malware, enforcing these rules by scrutinizing all electronics and confirming they’re free of sophisticated malware is practically impossible.To avoid such risks, you can pick streaming devices from reputable vendors like Google Chromecast, Apple TV, NVIDIA Shield, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku Stick.BleepingComputer attempted to contact the listed seller on Amazon but could not find any website or email address associated with the brand.

Won’t play your apps like Netflix.
Nothing good apps won’t open got one movie to play but quit playing during adds. Will not play Netflix Hulu or apps I have subscription to. I have had a Mibox 3 that has worked good for several years. 3 Roku’s that’s have worked a few years and a FireTv that worked about four years before it went bad.

Better than a firestick
I got this tv box cause my firestick recently broke. I used the firestick everyday to stream some netflix and that was pretty much the sole function of the firestick. I considered buying a separate computer to plug into the tv to browse the web/check emails, but realized a computer doesn’t have the sleek interface like the firestick and takes longer to boot and etc. I guess I wanted something that did it all! I found this T95 tv box coincidentally while browsing through Amazon and wow I am really impressed with it. When I first ordered it, I was a little concerned cause I realized it only had 2gb ram and 16gb memory, but after using it for a couple days, it hasn’t been an issue at all. I love the fact that now, I just wake up from bed, turn on the tv, check my emails from the tv box, browse the web whenever I’m feeling bored, and before going to sleep, I can turn on netflix and wind down. One advice for anyone on the fence buying this is to buy a small usb keyboard like the one in my picture. I had one laying around and wow game changer. Once the firesticks on my other tvs break, I plan to replace them all with these tv boxes. Why pay the same price as a firestick when this tv box does more?

If you aren’t tech savvy, you might want to stick to the mainstream plug and play dongles on the market. With that said, once I connected an USB/wireless mouse and keyboard to this android box and unlocked the admin permissions on it, I realized it’s potential and the advantages of having it versus a stick from other well known manufacturers. Not only do you get what you expect for streaming TV service, but you turn your TV into a tablet. For $40 it’s pretty powerful. The video interface is slightly buggy here and there and not all apps from the Google Play Store are compatible, but once you get it up and running, it’s well worth the investment. I hated it out of the box, but came to love it once I got around the OS restrictions on it.If you understand the world of APKs, then this is the box for you. HINT: attaching a keyboard and mouse is a must if you want to get this box configured and running what you want it to. The remote has a mouse mode, but it’s spotty at best on performance.Be prepared to find workarounds to getting app features to work, but once you do, it works like a champ! I recommend this box for sure.

Netflix don’t work and it keeps freezing up
Netflix from the app store isn’t present and when you download the apk and install it it says it is not compatable with Android 10. Netflix is only compatible with versions 4.4 to 7.1 of Android. This is only an issue for installing Netflix NOT this box. Netflix needs to update their app.The main complaint and the one star is it keeps frezing up. I was watching a movie and it frooze. I rebooted and it frooze again while watching the same move. It buzzes and does not respond to the remote. Returning it for a refund. This is garbage.

Skip this, spend a few extra bucks elsewhere
This was OK for my usage (for a little while) as I was mostly just needing some for Plex and YouTube. Hulu would immediately crash, I wanna say I had problems with Netflix as well? But then starting the other day I’d try to watch something on Plex and boop, crashes. YouTube? Not anymore. Also the included remote is stupid, I ended up buying an aftermarket one that was more comfortable and intuitiveThese things are dumb. I Replaced mine with a Dynalink (kind of a knock off Chromecast with remote and AndroidTV) and everything about it is better, except it doesn’t have ethernet but I can deal with that when a device actually works properly.Just don’t waste your time with these T95 things. Also the UI was ugly as all hell and you couldn’t really do anything to change it. I hated this thing.

disappointment
I got it and I was so exciting to try it. after I connected and I started to play around with it. It was really sluggish, slow, lots of problem with the apps that I installed on it. I used it for a couple of days, and I couldn’t deal with it and put it back on the box that it came with, and it has been seating there since then. I honestly wasted my money on this.I was expecting to be something more reliable, and useable. As I said it was a waste of money.

The Bluetooth doesn’t work, with 3 cell phone and RCA Voyager. The 1st one got stuck in boot trying a 4 tarabyte external drive. But my other 2 tarabyte external drive work with it. I have tried 32 gb TF card and it works. The hotel wi fi doesn’t work with it. I found the terms and condition page but it stopped.

Common apps may not play
I was pleased with this box until I downloaded common apps (such as Pluto, NewsOn etc..), from Google Play and other sources, in different versions but each time after downloading and updating the system would say that this APK won’t work on this box please download from Google Play. I started out with Google play…Some apps will download and update but won’t play..?? But some apps work fine.
