Moleskin is a quality product and I enjoy carrying this pocket notebook around. I love the red color which is my signature color. I have always looked for the perfect planner to carry around with me but most are too heavy and I usually abandon them within a few weeks. I taped in a monthly calendar in the back for my memory’s sake. I carry this in my purse or lunch bag pocket. I use a Pilot Energel .5 which shadows on the next page but it doesn’t distract too much. I like to use it to remember things God has done throughout the day and my prayer requests and how they are answered. Well worth the price.

I wish these were not such a good product. Cause I like them. A lot. I’ve resigned to carry one around all the time and the weight is worth the product. It’s just easy to use. Great paper and all that.

For more than than five years I’ve been using the Moleskine Large Squared Soft notebooks to keep field notes while I start-up, test, and troubleshoot lighting controls on construction sites and in operating buildings. I fill up about six books a year. They fit in a cargo pant pocket so the notebook is always at hand without having to be always in-hand. The binding is flexible enough to allow the book to be laid open at any page. The bookmark ribbon and elastic closure band are both useful. The soft cover is nicely flexible, but is durable enough for my work. (I tried the hard cover version. It was very uncomfortable in the cargo pocket with the range of motion I go through in a day.) Being left-handed, I found spiral bound notebooks of the same size difficult to write in “over the hump”. Over several weeks in the pocket, the spiral would get deformed , making the making it harder to open the book or turn through its pages; not a problem with the Moleskine. These notebooks are DEFINITELY LEFT-HAND FRIENDLY. Only two small complaints in over five years of use: first, the bookmark ribbon just fell off of one of my notebooks (that’s how I figured out that the bookmark ribbon is really useful), and second, print quality of the grid has been variable in the past. Ideally the grid should be faint, fine lines that compete with my writing for the eye’s or the copier’s attention. At times in the past the grid has been darker and heavier. This hasn’t caught my attention in the last couple of years, so maybe quality control has already taken care of it. The notebooks are a little pricey compared to a spiral-bound, but if you need or want durable and useful, it is value for the money.

Love these notebooks/ sketchbooks! I find it really hard to draw in anything else since I started using them years and years ago! The texture of the paper is SO smooth and matte feeling! I’ve never had a problem with bleed through onto the next page, even tho the pages are a little thin but I personally like the thin pages because it makes tracing old drawings for a clean version super easy. I’ve just never felt like they were too thin as some seem to complain? I’ve used thick brush pens on them before and it was fine. The weight and texture of the paper is really perfect imo. I also really love the soft cover. Again something about the texture and weight just feels good in your hands and the pocket in the back is always useful. These notebooks also hold up great imo. I always fill mine before they ever fall apart so…yeah…(kinda feel like people who have an issue with them falling apart just abuse their belongings/ don’t take care of their stuff. Like yeah, duh, it’ll probably bust if you toss it in the bottom of a over-stuffed purse everyday or has been chilling on your bedroom floor for a month.🙄)ANYWAYS,The little ribbon bookmark it comes with I could live without and honestly, I might just rip/ cut it out since I think it takes away from the simple design of the notebook as a whole, since it’s grey and not black and I’ve always found those just kinda annoying personally. But that’s really my only ‘problem’ with it.Love these notebooks tho, I like the smaller soft cover ones that come in the 3 pack as well. I literally have been using them for years and years and years as a professional artist. If you like to draw and are picky about the texture of your stuff like me, get this.
