Well, my ancient pampered chef can opener broke & upon discovering they now cost a fortune, the replacement search was on! Turns out, not can openers are garbage. They’re hard to use & break easily. I’m old. My hands hurt & I hate to spend money on crappy things. Bad combo. Returned 3 can openers before I hit gold with this one. It bites in easily, glides around the can & opens smoothly. A couple months in & it’s still working beautifully! Can’t ask for more.

I want to preface this with my belief that you don’t buy a new item if your current item can still be used and KitchenAid products generally last. I purchased the combo package of a grater with storage/measuring cup and a Manual Can Opener. First, the Grater: I may have purchased the grater this was to replace in the early to mid 1980’s. Certainly no later than 1990! This grater, with the hard plastic collar and top handle seems like it will never collapse in on itself, as my old one finally did. It’s slightly larger overall and, while space is always tight in a well used kitchen, it stores its own measuring cup/covered container, so I’ll forgive it. The container, with it’s own seal, is very handy as I no longer have to grate onto a paper towel and then transfer that to a measuring cup. I could say that it stops one from wasting cheese when you grate too much but the “extra” was always consumed by kids, dogs & hubby wandering by and pinching a bit here & there… well, not the dogs, everyone generously shared their snagged bits with them, woof woof 😜 😉The Manual Can Opener: I am blown away by the ease of use and quality of this product. I have an opener that never caught the can edge properly, needed excessive pressure to hold the handles tightly together and usually needed repeated repositioning every time I needed to open a can! As my arthritis has worsened, I often needed someone else to help and watched THEM have the same issues. Anyway, when my grater collapsed, I saw the package with both and ordered it immediately. This opener is extremely easy to use, it doesn’t open very wide but, I placed it on a can, gave a little squeeze and easily turned the handle just a couple of times before the lid dropped into the mandarin oranges! I was flabbergasted at the ease of use because I’ve been using the old one for several years, often got pinched and would just give up on trying to get a lid entirely off. We would pry the can open with something else until we could scoop out the contents. Luckily, we don’t really open many cans and, until the mandarin oranges stopped having “pull tops” it was rare to NEED an opener. I’m not cheap, I AM frugal. I don’t know where the old opener came from but, I know KitchenAid. For well over 35 years, I’ve owned a (refurbished) KitchenAid Mixer including many of the attachments and several other KitchenAid products. Every item with their name on it has provided years of service and they stand behind their products. This package was more expensive than most of the others and that’s a consideration for some but I’m confident that I’ll save money in the long run. Spend a couple of extra dollars now and you won’t have to replace the items as often.

Nice design, works well, simple, inexpensive. As much as I like the other kind of can openers that are automatic or have the lid come off all smooth, this just works. Nothing crazy and gets it done.

So eay and convenient to use, nice grip and sharp can blade that cuts the cans open with no effort on my part

This can opener is the bomb. It works great. It works with ease. The handle is long and allows you to get a good grlp. And the stainless steel is strong and cuts the can well. This product is inexpensiver.

Perfect product design. Easy to hold & grip while opening. Long handle is very easy to turn. Opens cans in an instant, leaving a clean edge without burrs.

For years I had one of the OXO brand can openers, and while it worked, there were times when it wouldn’t cut all around the top of the can, or wouldn’t make an initial puncture to start opening the can. So I lived with it. Admittedly, OXO probably makes a better model than the one I had, but I was ready for a change. When I received the KitchenAid can opener I was impressed. Feels heavy, in a good way. Easy to use, and when you put it on top of the can lid it doesn’t take a hard squeeze to make the initial puncture. And from that point on, cutting the lid off the can feels “like butter”. You can just feel the quality of this product. I love it. Highly recommend.

You know we needed a can opener because ours, something from pioneer woman, quit wanting to turn and wouldn’t open cans. I mean, that’s a can openers whole job really. So we got this one because red is my fiancés favorite color and most of our kitchen stuff is red so it matches well. We saw this red kitchen aid can opener at Walmart but then realized it was cheaper on Amazon so yep. Amazon for the win.The most important thing to know about this product is it opens cans. It opens them very well. Have probably opened a dozen cans by now if not two dozen and I am thrilled each time because it does what it is supposed to do, open cans.It doesn’t cause the can to wobble around while opening. I didn’t even know that was a thing I thought all can openers made the cans shake when opening. But I was wrong and the kitchen aid can opener opened my eyes to that. It’s very sturdy and hefty. If I had any complaint and this can opener opens cans so well that it is near impossible to complain, but if I were going to it would be that the handles are very thick. I don’t know if I’m describing it correctly, perhaps I have small hands but this can opener can sort of feel like a lot to hold in my hand. But hey, it opens cans so quickly and effectively that I really don’t care so much about its bulk. If you need to open cans, this kitchen aid can opener will solve your problems.

This can opener is the best I’ve ever used! After my electric can opener stopped working, I tried several hands-free can openers. After epic fails with all of them and much wasted time and energy, I decided a hand-held opener was the way to go. I’m 71 years old, so comfort and easy operation are a top requirement. The silicone handle is so comfortable and the turning handle has a very smooth rotation. I got one for my daughter and she loves hers too! Definitely 5 stars for this one!!

This is the best can opener I’ve ever owned, it makes me wonder why I struggled with the skinny cheap ones for years on end. I have a lot of pain in my hands and fingers recently and would have to have my husband open cans for me. Not anymore, this thing makes it so easy.
