Appropriate for the price; nothing amazing. Build and Features – the plastics used feel cheaper and less solid than I expected. However, the monitor probably won’t be moved around too much so I don’t imagine this will be a large concern. The back panel looks silver in the photos but it’s actually pure white (this isn’t an issue either but I thought to point it out). The height-adjustable stand is a nice bonus but I don’t think I’d pay extra for it if I were to buy it again. I wish this model had speakers built-in. I appreciate the 3.5mm audio input though. I also like the look of the thin bezels all around.
Picture Quality – it’s as expected for the price though I believe you could get similar quality from notably cheaper monitors than don’t have adjustable stands. Coming from a 15″ 4k XPS laptop display, it was a bit jarring to transition to 1080p stretched over 24″ because of the downgrade in pixel density. I did eventually adjust to this after a few days of usage and the 1080p resolution looks fine to me now. The colours are less saturated than my XPS screen (which might be a good thing given the XPS’ reputation for oversaturation). I don’t currently have a colorimeter to test for accuracy but this monitor doesn’t seem particularly off. What I don’t like is the lack of contrast in the image. Blacks are definitely washed out and I think the matte anti-glare coating on the screen contributes to that. My room doesn’t create much glare so I would have preferred a glossy finish.

Dell 24” S2421HS Monitor. Although this is considered a no frills entry level monitor, it performs very well for every day use. colors are vibrant, videos are smooth and the pedestal allows you to adjust the monitor at a comfortable viewing angle. I am using it as a second monitor with an Imac and I am extremely happy with this purchase. It more than serves its purpose.

Mid tier for video
For $140 you get a good monitor, but not a great monitor. The monitor lacks in contrast, as it does not have dynamic range to make true blacks. Also the monitor brightness is low. Blackness and brightness work against each other. To get a bright picture, you crank up the brightness and as a result a black background is grey and video seem washed out.As a Windows PC monitor for surfing and some YouTube you are fine. But if you heavily consume video, look for something else.

Dell seemed super cheap in not including assembly or use instructions in paper in the box.. I wish I had bought a monitor from a bricks and mortar store, where I could bring it for help.Once I put the stand together, it is a little off, the monitor isn’t level.Frustrating.

Dell 27″ monitor works great
This monitor works fine. It has a standard VESA Mount, and it seems satisfactory in every way. I like it when equipment is standard rather than proprietary. I think the Dell monitors are my favorites. Considering the price, this seems to be a great deal. The only marginal thing I found was holes into the case near the VESA Mount. It would be easy to drop a VESA Mount screw into one of these holes. So . . . don’t drop the screws into the holes.

Maybe okay for gaming from five more or feet away but not for word processing or up close work. Fuzzy, and images lack clarity. Matte screen adds to the general sloppy resolution. Nice physical design.

UPDATE – Great budget monitor – if you know how to adjust settings in menu . . .
UPDATE – Flickering issue. My excitement with this otherwise high quality monitor was premature. A very subtle flickering is going on. At first it seems perfect. But as you work and stare and glance down at your keyboard, you realize there is a subtle flickering going on – at all times. I tried switching out cables (both DP and HDMI) – no difference. Same flicker. Then I connected to a different computer – still flickering! So it’s definitely the monitor – not the cables and not the computer. I’m returning it – which is a shame because I otherwise like this monitor and need a good 27″ one – just without flicker! (Left it at 5 stars because I’m giving Dell the benefit of the doubt. I’m assuming I just got a dud. We’ll see when I reorder . . . . )This is a great everyday monitor – but the screen settings it ships with are very bland. When you first plug it in and connect it up, you’ll get a mediocre image. Go into the screen settings using the little buttons hidden on the underside of the front right edge of the monitor. Play around with the different choices and adjust brightness, contrast, RGB, mode, etc. until you get the bright crisp image you want. That’s what I did and I’m very happy with the results. Plus the stand is great. It raises, lowers, tilts and swivels. Connections are good too – offering both HDMI and DP ports. All this for $170 is a darn good deal. Just be sure to adjust the image in settings after you set it up.

Not ideal for Mac
This is a nice monitor for the price. Extremely well packaged with recyclable/sustainable materials; easy to unbox and incredibly easy to set up. Very nice looking, sleek and modern. But when plugged into MacBook, display was not really synchronized. Too bright, harsh, my eyes detected flicker, and I could only look at it for a few minutes without feeling blinded. To test, I plugged into my Dell PC and the image was lovely. So, even though advertised as compatible with Mac, it was not for me, or my old eyes.

Night and Day From Previous Samsung Monitor
This monitor is truly terrific. Good sharp quality, much brighter, and a few more features. Spreadsheets are crisp and easy to read now, and photos are night and day from my old Samsung monitor that I spent the same amount of money on a year and a half ago. The old monitor developed some bright pinpoints of light, so I bought this new Dell one. I should have done it many months ago. I spend many hours a day in front of my monitor, like many other people do, and even after two hours of using this new monitor I notice the difference in how my eyes feel. Buy yours now if you are not getting a sharp and bright view, do not wait like I did.

Very good monitor!
I had this specific monitor on my wish list and when the price dropped to a price I could afford I purchased it. I design themes and wallpapers and need to stand because of back problems. This monitor can be adjusted, both side ways, back and forth and height. It was the easiest monitor I have had in many years. Wham bam and it was together. I thought it had speakers in it so I had unplugged my Bose speakers but found out it doesn’t have speakers so had to plug them back in. But for the price this was a good deal and I am very pleased with it!

I bought these because the description said they had built-in speakers. After some research on why my speakers were not working I found out that this model does not have speakers as advertised. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE DESCRIPTION FOR THE PRODUCT. Other than that the monitors work well. The picture is clear

A good screen with a very versatile stand
I needed a monitor that could sit very low to the desk surface in order to fit an old secretary’s desk. The factory stand for this monitor can go so low the monitor almost touches the desk. It can also raise up very high, switch to vertical orientation easily as well. The value for the screen is great! The price I paid was considerable less on amazon vs microcenter, too!24″ is probably pushing it for a 1920×1080 screen. The only thing that would have made this better is to find the same formfactor in 1440 for extra crispness.

Nice IPS monitors for eyes that need bigger text without upscaling
Bought from Amazon 3 of these to replace some older Dell UltraSharp 24″ 2415 and 2412M which are superb monitors and in rarer today 1920×1200 pixels resolution. The main reason being to get increased pixels and text for eye comfort. They do not disappoint.Couple of cons, minor:- No color calibration from factory like some UltraSharp models. I was able to obtain a calibration and image quality close to UltraSharp 2415 with bit of effort.- The stands wobble a bit. I installed my new S2721HS monitors using stands from old UltraSharp 2412 monitors which feel more stable however the original stands work as well and may be look better for some people.Some pros besides being excellent monitors overall:- Standard color gamut.- Once calibrated they have colors comparable with the mentioned Dell UltraSharp models.- 75 Hz refresh rate.- Analog brightness adjustment aka no flicker with brightness set less than maximum.

Solid choice for hybrid office
I wanted a monitor that my wife could easily connect to both her Dell work laptop (HDMI) and her home surface book (Display Port). 27 inches is the right size and 1080p is still plenty of resolution for any office or productivity related work. IPS screen is another plus. The hardware is very solid and it looks good. I did have to buy a display port cable. Packaging was more than adequate. Setup took less than 10 minutes. There is no power supply brick. Have had the monitor for a couple of months and my wife has not had any problems. Would most definitely purchase again.I can’t imagine why this is being pitched as a gaming monitor although it would probably perform fairly well in that context as well. The only online game I play is chess.

Low- Mid range monitor!
This is the best example on you get what you paid. I got this on prime day discount for $130. My experience equals to what I paid. Don’t expect too much from this monitor and just serves the purpose. Display was just OK. Material and build quality is good meets Dell standards. Just go for it if you are looking for monitors on low budget. If you are more thirsty of sharp images and premium quality experience, look somewhere.

Dell S2721HS Full HD – Best Monitor I ever bought
This monitor is the best one I have ever bought. The packaging is not damaged, and it was delivered on time. The installation took 7 minutes, and I could use it with four (4) other monitors attached to my laptop. The screen quality is excellent, with no blur or flickering. The visuals are clear and refreshable as quickly as my eyes can see them. The price point is not too high or low. It is within the $150 to $300 range. I was searching for a monitor that is high-quality and inexpensive. I looked at average customer reviews, and I also looked at best sellers. I found this monitor on Amazon, which was always at the top of the list.

No Display Port cable
I could not connect the monitor. The Dell PC tower I have does not come with HDMI. I do not know why Dell would not pack a Display Port cable and only an HDMI, but it didn’t. My PC works fine. The cable on Amazon is only 7-10 dollars. I think it would have been nice to have the Display Port cable.

Having a full office set up at home has cut down on the extra time it took to breakdown when having to travel back to office. This way I only need to pack my laptop. The only thing I worry about is the screens tend to sag to one side or the other, almost like they’re top heavy for the mount. Other than that they’re perfect.

Bought on warehouse, no issues at all.
Monitor came in original packaging with all hardware/cables included and in great shape. The monitor itself had a good bit of dust on the outside edges of the screen – looked like the styrofoam got pretty dusty before it got boxed back up, but it wiped right off with a bit of screen spray.I also have a previous model of this monitor and this one is just as nice with a few more features in the menu. Image settings are pretty solid, and the default options look really good. I’ve done a bit of light gaming on it and it looked great. I honestly don’t know the specs, and it probably isn’t up to par for competitive gaming , but you get what’s on the tin.

not a 27″ monitor
I measured the diagonal screen size and it’s closer to 23 and a bit inches corner to corner. Nothing about this product is 27 inches. iruler.net, which detects your monitor and puts a real size ruler on the screen, says the monitor is 22.9″ but either way, it’s not 27. And it’s not the frame size vs viewable, on the top and sides there’s maybe 3/16 of an inch of black frame outside the screen, and at the bottom maybe 5/8. But nothing that inflates a 23 inch monitor 4 inches so they can call it 27″ in the item description.It is a perfectly good monitor from what I can tell, I just expected it to be 4 or 5 diagonal inches bigger than the old one I replaced and it’s about the same size and resolution. Glad it was on sale. Feels like false advertising though.[Follow-up] Gotta point out, on the box the monitor is packed in, it has a little plan-view of the monitor from the top, side and front, and the front view has a suggestive diagonal line with 27″ printed next to it A 27 inch diagonal monitor would literally not fit in the box. Dell is a pretty major brand, I’m still stumped by this false product claim that is refutable by anyone with a tape measure. You’d expect they would know someone might, you know…check. The only reason I’m not returning for a refund on principle is that they were on sale and they are “big enough” for my needs. The fact remains though, that from the Amazon ad to the shipping package, the dimensions of the product are bogus.

Be careful I purchased this monitor because it said it has a usb-c port but it does not. The picture is ok, I have a duel monitor set up and the picture quality next to my other dell monitor isn’t the best.

good for the price
i have a benq monitor for gaming and needed something easy on the eyes for editing, school, etcit’s a pretty good monitor if you use headphonesthe speakers on the monitor are pretty terrible and it’s a bit flimsy however I love it and use it 24/7 i think it was a great purchase for my needs but i definitely wouldn’t want it as my main monitor

Compre un DELL S2721HS y me llegó un DELL SE2722HX
Tuve como cliente / usuario una gran decepción con el producto que me envió el vendedor de AMAZON, ya que recibí un monitor aunque nuevo de DELL SE2722HX de 159 US-D de tipo fijo no ajustable, cuando en realidad la compra que realice era de un monitor DELL S2721HS de 183 US-D con altura ajustable, no devolví a AMAZON el producto recibido ya que para mí era necesario y urgente un monitor de 27 FHD con HDMI, me parece una tomadura de pelo pedir un producto bien específico y que te llegue al final otra cosa que no pediste, el monitor en sí mismo es excelente y cumple a cabalidad para el trabajo de ofimática que necesito realizar en mi casa / trabajo, es el complemento ideal que utilizo de monitor para poder trabajar con una pc-portátil Lenovo V14 G2 ALC.

Good quality
Color and brightness are good. The overall product quality is great.The only point to note is that for a 27 inch monitor the resolution of 1900 by 1080 on this is a little low when it comes to reading text which I do a lot.For reading text you would need to have sufficient distance from the monitor and keep text size adjusted to your comfort. With these adjustments the monitor works perfectly for me.

Excellent monitor
I trust Dell with all my heart and this was not the exception, I LOVE this monitor, it looks so good and clear, easy installation, the speakers are really good, I am really impressed, it looks modern. The qualityy is top notch, I highly recommend it and it is so big, it is definately what I was looking for.

Great Customer Service from Alice
I ordered 2 of these monitors with the adjustable stands to fit in a roll top desk. The fixed height stands would not go low enough to fit under the top. Unfortunately, the monitors came in with the fixed stands and the ones with adjustable stands were sold out. Alice quickly solved my issue to my satisfaction. The monitors themselves work great for the price. Just what I needed for a home office.

Just a bit more for the stand..
I love the monitor but the monitor stand is big flimsy. Definitely cut too much to make it cheaper. (Dell, you can beat competition by offering better monitor stand.) Also, the HDMI cable doesn’t fit perfectly which seems to be minor issue/defect. Other than that, good buy for the price. I am not so technical or sensitive to color difference.

Works and Looks Great When You Can Get it to Wake Up
Would rate this 5 stars except for a quirk that seems to be plaguing of Dell monitors like this. Mine is plugged into my laptop via HDMI through a hub. After logging off and shutting down my laptop, if I don’t also turn the monitor off it goes into power saving mode. When I power the laptop back up, the monitor will claim there is no HDMI device plugged in. Get the same message if I turn the monitor off and then back on. The only work-around is to either unplug the HDMI cable and then plug it back in, or make sure the monitor is turned off when I boot the laptop up. This second method only works sporadically. I’ve checked multiple forums online and this seems to be a persistent problem with no clear solution.

Dell quality is dell quality
Great quality monitor for home office. Dell always delivers outstanding equipments. Very thin frames turns this into a fancy monitor and the system to adjust the height and angle of the screen is very easy and precise. I bought it used so unfortunately it came with a few marks on the support and a small scratch on screen, however it is still a great deal for the price.

Summary: A perfect budget monitor for someone looking to have a bigger screen to work on than their laptopThis is an excellent monitor to purchase if you want to functionally create a desktop without spending a large amount of money on a brand new computer. I used purchased this to connect to my laptop to create a functioning pseudocomputer for studying/working.Pros:- Very affordable compared to other monitors of similar quality- Simple assembly and attachment to the stand- video quality is great. (it was a little bright for my taste so i reduced the brightness to 40% to limit eye strain- There is no delay between the input on my laptop and what i am seeing on the monitorCons- you could definitely find better picture quality at higher price pointsDisclaimer: I only use this for working so this review is based on that. I cannot comment on how good this would be for gaming or graphic design.

Compatible with Mac Mini M2
This monitor is compatible with the Mac Mini M2. The only problem is you cannot control the volume and brightness with mouse, the speakers work fine.

Just the size and feture set I was after working great.
In every way I need it is great, however I can’t get the internal speakers to work no mater what I do. I admit I am not actually using them as I am taking the audio out to a later bar speaker and that works perfect and was the intent for my use case from the start so no need for me to send it back but in the end it had to loose a star over all and a couple on value to money considering it was in truth defective. Lucky for me just not in a way that matters for me.

Nice but…
Satisfied overall but wishing now I had gone for a higher resolution screen. However it is a huge improvement over what I was using.One disappointment -The doohickey in the base that the vertical post attaches to is about 20 degrees off from square,looks stupid as hell, but doesn’t affect monitor functionality.As the son a precision machinist (and a bit of a perfectionist myself at times) that really bothers meHow could that pass quality control?More to the point, how do I get a new base shipped to me to replace this one?
